Redcoats.io is a browser FPS built around 17th-to-19th century musket warfare, and it runs up to 1,000 players on a single 3D battlefield without a download. The period setting is not just decoration — it changes how the shooting works. Muskets are slow, single-shot and unforgiving. There is no spraying: you aim, you fire, and then you need somewhere safe to reload.

That reload window is what makes formations matter. Players who move with allies and cover each other while reloading beat players who charge alone, regardless of aim. It is closer to a tactical team game wearing an .io skin than to a modern arena shooter.

Four classes divide the work. The Musketeer is the backbone, carrying a flintlock with a bayonet for both volleys and melee. The Cavalryman rides, which suits flanking and running down retreating enemies. The Cannoneer works field artillery — long-range bombardment or grapeshot at close quarters. The Sailor crews multi-gun warships for naval fights and coastal bombardment. You carry a sword, pistol, musket, pickaxe and fists, switching with the number keys as the situation changes.
